UNESCO-UNEVOC conducts Greening Skills Training at DEVCO Annual Seminar

As part of the annual meeting organized by the Directorate of International Cooperation and Development of the European Commission, UNESCO-UNEVOC was invited to deliver a training session on Green Skills for international TVET Experts of the European Commission, in Brussels.

This year’s event, held from 20-24 November 2017, spanned various areas of Employment and Vocational Education and Training that the European Commission supports through its initiatives that include Qualification Frameworks, Quality Assurance, Public Private partnerships in VET, amongst others. The training sessions organized as part of this event focused on building the capacity of the European Commission experts engaged in VET sector support programmes globally. These experts represented European Commission’s VET sector support programs in 24 countries spanning Africa, Asia, EU and CIS, and the Middle East.

UNESCO-UNEVOC, represented by Mr. Jens Liebe – Senior Programme Expert, delivered the training session on Green Skills and shared the learnings from UNESCO-UNEVOC’s thematic engagement in the area of Greening TVET. The aim of this training session was to sensitize the internationally deployed TVET experts of the European Commission, who play an important role in EU funded implementation projects, with the details of the Greening TVET and UNESCO-UNEVOC’s flagship Greening Guide.

The training session and the ensuing discussions also enabled an improved mutual understanding and reaffirmation of the collaborations between the European Commission and UNESCO-UNEVOC, as they play an important role in TVET both in Europe and beyond.
