Chonburi, Thailand, 3-5 April 2007
This UNESCO-UNEVOC sub-regional seminar was held at Sattahip Technical College in Chonburi, Thailand. It was targeted at TVET practitioners from UNEVOC Centres TVET departments in South East Asia, South and West Asia.
The seminar aimed to support and build capacity in UNEVOC Centres to contribute to the innovation of TVET. The specific objective of the seminar was initiation of studies on exemplars and success stories in innovating TVET. To achieve this, clustering of UNEVOC Centres around common themes and joint case studies were examined. 15 representatives of UNEVOC Centres from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Iran, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand explored challenges in TVET programmes in their countries, identified common issues and concerns, and expressed appreciation of the value of exchanging information, in particular, on policy and curricula of TVET. One upshot of the seminar was the setting up of two thematic clusters – one on curricula and another one on research. Outlines for further cluster activities were produced. Some case studies were initiated in these clusters.
The seminar was organised by UNESCO-UNEVOC in cooperation with the Office of Vocational Education Commission, Ministry of Education, Thailand, and supported by UNESCO Bangkok.
