The National Council for the Federal Network of Vocational, Scientific, and Technological Education Institutions (CONIF) spearheads technical and strategic initiatives aimed at promoting public education of the highest caliber. Serving as a platform for deliberation, proposition, and advocacy, CONIF focuses on shaping policies to advance an inclusive vocational and technological education.

Comprising leaders from 38 Federal Institutes of Education, Science, and Technology, along with 2 Federal Centers of Technological Education and Pedro II School, CONIF oversees a network of 661 campuses spread across 578 municipalities in Brazil. With an enrollment exceeding 1.5 million students and a staff of over 75,000 permanent members, including faculty and administrative personnel, these institutions are committed to providing exceptional tuition-free vocational education to youth and workers, irrespective of their social backgrounds.

Aligned with local economic frameworks, these institutions facilitate access to cutting-edge scientific and technological advancements by offering vocational training across various fields of knowledge. They actively engage in teaching, applied research, innovation, entrepreneurship, as well as community and technological outreach, catering to diverse educational levels and modalities, ranging from basic to graduate education, including teacher training, all grounded in their unique educational blueprints.

Functioning as a pivotal platform for discourse and advocacy, CONIF champions the cause of public vocational and technological education, aiming to fortify and consolidate its 41 affiliated institutions. As the voice of the Federal Network institutions, CONIF collaborates with various societal stakeholders, national and international partners, and legislative bodies. Moreover, it regularly collaborates with the Ministry of Education (MEC) to devise strategies and initiatives aimed at advancing vocational education in Brazil.
