The University of Jordan is both a modern as well as old institution of Higher Education in Jordan. Established in 1962, the University has, since then, applied itself to the advancement of knowledge no less than to its dissemination .In its capacity as a comprehensive teaching, research and community-service institution, the University of Jordan enables its students to choose from a wide range of programs- more than 3500 different courses are offered by some 18 faculties.

The University works mainly through 3 main pillars:

  • provision of sound professional education at both the undergraduate and graduate levels (Most academic departments run Master´s programmes in addition to the regular undergraduate programmes associated with these departments. Very few, however, run the doctoral programme);
  • support of goal-oriented research, particularly research activities which are in line with the national developmental plans;
  • community service to the country and region through training and research centres such as Centre for Consultation and Technical Studies which provides training programmes in many areas of specialisation.
