UNEVOC Centre (Ministry) since 1994
The Seychelles Institute of Technology (SIT) is a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution established as a Professional Centre from January 2015 under the Tertiary Education Act (TEA) 2011. SIT operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Education.
Founded in 2006, SIT offers training in the following modes: full time campus-based, worked based and apprenticeships. The types of training are geared towards learning for work as well as learning for further and higher level of studies.
SIT is that Professional Centre which leads learners to acquire practical skills, expertise and understanding necessary for employment in a particular occupation, trade or group of occupations. It works in partnership with its key stakeholders such as businesses and other trade organizations.
SIT forms part of the ten i-hubs selected by UNESCO-UNEVOC in 2019. The new motto of SIT is " Training for Excellence and Opportunities". SIT is a TVET provider which encourages its learners to carry out innovative activities. Project based learning (PBL)is included on the learners timetable. This allows them to carry out innovative practices, conduct research and use the time to turn ideas into products etc. The strong innovative practice of SIT is the installation of rain water tanks to collect water for domestic use and cleaning of vehicles.

1. Encourage development and move for implementation of new and ongoing strategic Initiatives that serve
the SIT mission and advance its vision.
2. Train , innovate, participate in research, and serve SIT in spaces that support and enhance good
practices, innovation and exemplary work.
3. Fiscal Sustainability, Transparency, Accountability and Effective Management.
4. Value the SIT staff and excellence in teaching and learning.
5. Equip the SIT workshops and laboratories with up-to-date machineries and IT equipment matched with
new latest technologies in application.
6. Strengthen SIT Campus Safety and Security
7. Ensure programme development which is responsive to new job and career opportunities.
8. Build on its partnership with Industry, Business, Private and Non-governmental organisations and
Educational Institutions Both locally and internationally to obtain support in training and employment opportunities for the learners and graduates.
9. Strengthen Parental involvement.
10. Provide internet access to all staff and learners on SIT campus
The SIT offers full time training at Certificate, Advanced Certificate and Diploma represented as level 3, level 4 and level 5 on the National Qualification Framework (NQF) Seychelles.
Advanced Diploma, i.e. level 6 on the NQF, is taught on part-time. Apprenticeship training is at the level of certificate (level 3 on the NQF)
