Founded in 1988, the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) is the UAE's largest applied higher educational institution, gaining a well-respected reputation for innovative education practices and job-focused experiential learning.

Approximately 23,000 students attend 16 modern, technology-oriented men's and women's campuses throughout the UAE, in the cities of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, and Al Dhafrah region.

HCT offers over 70 academic programs in Applied Media, Business, Computer Information Science, Education, Engineering Technology & Science, and Health Sciences. These programs are all designed in consultation with business and industry leaders and incorporate principles of Innovation and Entrepreneurship to ensure HCT students' skills are up-to-date and to the highest standards. The HCT courses are a hybrid blend of innovative, technology-driven academic studies and work-relevant programs, ensuring that HCT graduates have the necessary 21st century skills to make positive and lasting contributions to society in the 4th Industrial Revolution.

The HCT 4.0 strategic plan, which is strongly aligned to the goals of the UAE National Vision 2021, the National Employment Strategy 2031 add Projects of the 50, encompasses HCT's hybrid education model of teaching and learning, which in turn is transforming HCT into the Campus of Tomorrow. As a result, HCT is a vital contributor to the UAE's national agendas, such as providing educational opportunities for all Emirati youth through life-long learning and career advancement opportunities.

HCT students are well poised to be the technical leaders of tomorrow. Under the auspices of the "Hybrid Education" model, students are awarded an academic degree based on fully accredited programs and a professional certificate from an international awarding body. This dual approach ensures that our students are locally prevalent and internationally relevant. In addition, HCT offers a unique and innovative array of study tracks for the digitally-native youth of today, empowering its students to design their study paths and exit plans of choice. Students can choose between Accelerated, Advanced, and Professional tracks.

HCT's futuristic campus of tomorrow will equip UAE's National human capital resources with future workforce skills, meeting national goals and empowering graduates to be adept at technological updates. Through such groundbreaking initiatives, graduates will enhance their skills, keeping pace with accelerating job changes dictated by the 4th Industrial Revolution and the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence skills.

HCT is a vital contributor to the UAE's national agendas, including providing education opportunities to every male and female Emirati and also being announced as a free zone under the UAE's Fifty Year Charter, creating UAE public and private universities as free zones. The HCT has also embraced a global perspective on applied education by establishing the Global Applied Education Network (GAEN), which sees it partner with a range of leading international educational institutions.
