Technical and Vocational Education and Training Council
(TVET Council)

UNEVOC Centre (National Body) since 2007

Type of Organization and Types of Activities:

  • Established by the Government of Barbados, it is a statutory body responsible for the planning and coordinating of Technical and Vocational Education in Barbados;
  • advise the Minister on policy relating to TVET and prepare pans for national policies and economic needs; coordinate TVET at the tertiary level; to establish standards for TVET;
  • establish training priorities, tests, qualifications and accreditation;
  • Carry out such other functions relating to technical and vocational education and training as the Minister may require.
Motivation:

  • In fulfilment of the council´s mandate to coordinate TVET and to promote its growth.
