Bureau of Science, Technology, Vocational and Special Education, Ministry of Education
Bureau of Science, Technology, Vocational and Special Education (MoE, BSTVSE)

UNEVOC Centre (Ministry) since 2007

Mission

The Bureau of Vocational and Technical Education, which is a unit within the administrative structure of the Ministry of Education, is responsible for monitoring, management and coordination of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Liberia.

Objectives

It is also charged with the duties to initiate various forms of in-service training for TVET personnel, develop appropriate programmes, materials and curriculum. The Bureau also provides adequate information to the Deputy Minister for instruction and advise on the effective development and coordination of TVET activities in Liberia. The Bureau further insures that regular TVET training programmes for Junior and Secondary Institutions are provided to out-of-school youths, vulnerable groups with emphasis on gender equity.

Regular tasks

  • Ensure that quality training exist in the various training institutions,
  • Ensure that training is relevant and meets the needs of the nation as a whole
  • Ensure TVET services are provided in hard to reach areas especially Liberia been a post conflict country where most youth are disadvantaged
  • Ensure monitoring and supervision is conducted
What we do not have mastery of is the keeping of the data base for TVET which is a challenge for our center owing to lack of financial support.
