UNEVOC Centre (National Body) since 1995
BMBO (Bureau for TVET upper secondary level)/BLBO(Bureau for TVET lower secondary level) are the responsible Bureaus for TVET in SURINAME and is part of the Department for TVET of the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture (MINOWC). Major area of activities are: advising the Ministry on policy matters regarding TVET, Manage the schools for TVET(lower and upper secondary level and tertiary level), including budget, personnel, facilities (including physical infrastructure). Also evaluating teachers, curricula and teaching methods in order to breach gaps, to train and retrain when needed. BMBO/BLBO is also providing services to the community as a whole, meaning act as a medium between education and the industry, the labor market and other institutes national and international.
BMBO/BLBO is the main source for information on TVET and the implementing unit for the Department for TVET.
The Department for TVET is Headed by the Assistant Permanent Secretary for TVET.
The most important mission of the Department is: Education for all and promoting lifelong learning.
