Swiss Federal University for Vocational Education and Training

UNEVOC Centre (National Body) since 2019

The Swiss Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training SFIVET is the Swiss expert organisation for vocational education and training. SFIVET forms VET practitioners, provide VET research, develop careers and further assist international education and training cooperation. The offices are located in Lausanne, Lugano, Olten, Zollikofen in Bern and Zurich. SFIVET acts as an interface between trade associations, professional organisations and the 26 cantons (with hundreds of vocational schools and professional colleges). As a national institute, SFIVET plays an important role for these partners, acting as a central point of contact for all matters relating to development projects and the basic and continuning training of VET/PET professionals


As a Swiss higher education institution, we are the trusted partner for all matters relating to vocational education and training today and in the future


SFIVET is owned by the Confederation. According to Article 25 of the SFIVET Ordinance, the Federal Council decides on SFIVET's strategic objectives. Like the Federal Institutes of Technology Domain, SFIVET is part of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER).
