Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training

UNEVOC Centre (National Body) since 1998

Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training (KRIVET) is a national research institute affiliated with the Prime Minister’s Office which was established in 1997 for vitalization of vocational education and training (VET) and enhancement of the public’s vocational competencies.

Since its foundation, in order to support the public’s lifelong skills development, KRIVET has been conducting policy research and development in the field of education and employment, which are a necessary part of our daily lives, including Specialized high school, Meister high school and vocational college policies, employment expansion, reducing skills mismatch, development of National Competency Standards based curriculum, Work-Study Dual program and national qualification framework, evaluation of training programs, and provision of career information.


To effectively perform tasks related to skills development, thereby contributing to vitalization of vocational education and training and enhancement of the public’s vocational competencies.

  • KRIVET is a national policy research institute that provides effective policy options;
  • KRIVET is a public institution that supports strengthening of the Korean public’s lifelong career competencies

Regular tasks

  • Conduct research on national policies to develop human resources and supports their implementation
  • Support the network of stakeholders in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and human resources development (HRD)
  • Conduct research on TVET as part of lifelong learning for all and carries out related projects
  • Develop and propagate programs for TVET as part of lifelong learning
  • Conduct research on national and private qualification systems and supports related projects
  • Evaluate TVET institutes and their programs upon request from the government
  • Provide information and career counseling for all for their employment and career development
  • Establish and manage a system for collecting information and analyzing the labor market trends on a regular basis
  • Promote international exchange of information on TVET
  • Collect, organize and disseminate information on TVET

Global HR Forum 2021
The Global HR Forum, jointly launched by The Korea Economic Daily, the Ministry of Education, and the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education & Training in 2006, celebrates its 16th anniversary this year. The theme of the Global HR Forum 2021, scheduled to be held on 10-11 November in Seoul and livestreamed online, is "Digital Transformation, ESG, and Sustainable Future."
