Federal University of Technology - Paraná
Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná (UTFPR)

UNEVOC Centre (Uni/Research) since 1994

The Federal University of Technology - Paraná is a public institution, owned by the federal government, with 13 Campuses located in the south of Brazil. The institution has its origin as an Elementary School for Craftsmen, founded in 1909, and has gone through changes until it officially became a University of Technology in 2005.

The University offers over 117 undergraduate courses, 36 graduate programs (6 doctorate and 30 masters programs) as well as an expressive number of research groups. Our University has around 2.300 professors, 1.000 administrative staff and 30.000 students.

The courses concentrate on the engineering areas: Mechanical, Civil Construction, Electronics, Computer Science, Food, Textile among others, although they also offer Teacher Education courses for Math, Physics, Chemistry, Languages Education, Biology.

UTFPR is the largest one offering Engineering Programs. UTFPR acts in the business sector through the development of applied research and entrepreneurial culture, as well as in local and regional communities through social activities.

UTFPR has been expanding over the years and it counts with 13 campuses located in the following cities in the State of Paraná: Apucarana, Campo Mourão, Cornélio Procópio, Curitiba, Dois Vizinhos, Francisco Beltrão, Guarapuava, Londrina, Medianeira, Pato Branco, Ponta Grossa, Santa Helena e Toledo.


To develop technological education of excellence through teaching, research and extension, interacting in an ethical, sustainable, productive and innovative way with the community for the advancement of knowledge and society.

SUSTAINABILITY: ensure that all actions are sustainable in the social, environmental and economic dimensions.


I. minister at the higher education level:

a) undergraduate courses and graduate programs, aimed the preparation of professionals for different

areas of technological education;

b)degree courses, as well as special training programs

with a view to training teachers and disciplines at various levels and teaching modalities according to

the demands of local and regional scope;

II. to provide technical courses that are integrated with secondary education, aimed the training of technically qualified citizens, verifing the local and regional demands;

III. offering continuing education, through different mechanisms, aiming training, professional upgrading, and specialization at all levels of education in the areas of technological education;

IV. develop research, stimulating creative activities and extending their benefits to the community, promoting technological, social, economic, cultural, political and environmental development;

V. develop extension activities in accordance with the principles and goals of technological education, in articulation with the productive sector and social segments.

UNESCO-UNEVOC at the TVET Forum for Latin America in Montevideo, Uruguay
From 23 to 25 November, 2015, an expert meeting in Montevideo, Uruguay, convened 40 technical and vocational education and training (TVET) stakeholders and ministry representatives from Latin American countries to discuss the challenges TVET faces looking towards the implementation of the recently adopted Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the period 2015-2030.
