The three institutions Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation have set up a consortium for cooperating on issues of sustainable development. With their different core competencies and backgrounds they form a strategic network in order to offer a substantial basis for joint international activities oriented on TVET and Sustainable Development. The vision to establish a global "TVET Academy" for sustainable capacity development in TVET has just been realised under the lead of GIZ. The TVET Academy supports the continuous development of technical, pedagogical, managerial and leadership competences for a labour-market oriented vocational training. The consortial partners, which form the UNEVOC Centre Magdeburg are introduced concisely below:
At its faculty for Human Sciences, the Otto-von-Guericke-University runs one of the oldest chairs for Vocational Education and Training in Germany and a number of national and international projects in TVET. Among others, it qualifies TVET teachers in industrial, technical and economic trades and offers tailor made study courses in the field of international TVET and human resource development.

GIZ works in 1.544 different development programmes (2019) of which around 85 are directly related to TVET. The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development is the main commissioning party, but GIZ also works for other governmental institutions, development banks, unions or private institutions.
