Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) is a new autonomous post-secondary educational institution replacing the Department of Technical Education. It offers full-time and Dual System Apprenticeship programmes through its seven campuses and offers Continuing Education and Training (CET) programmes for adult learners. Programmes are designed with strong collaboration with stakeholders to be better aligned with the social and economic needs of the country.
IBTE offers four levels of training namely, Industrial Skills Qualification or ISQ (BDQF Level 2), National Technical Education Certificate or NTec (BDQF Level 3), Higher National Technical Education Certificate or HNTec (BDQF Level 4) and Diploma (BDQF Level 5).
IBTE was constituted as a statutory board under the purview of the Ministry of Education and with its own Board of Governor (BOG) and officially established in May 2014. It aims at equipping the nation’s youth with the skills and knowledge needed to promote economic growth of the country in line with Wawasan 2035. Its vision is to be ‘a dynamic technical education institution embracing lifelong learning.’ Its mission is ‘nurturing learners to be highly competent and socially responsible towards building a dynamic economy.’
