The Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) was established in 2010 by the directive of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Executive Council.
ACTVET is committed to establishing policies and standards that effectively regulate technical and vocational educational institutions in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. ACTVET is also responsible for the licensing of trainers that meet the demands of the UAE’s local market.
The Centre is accredited as an awarding‐body by the Vocational Education and Training Awards Council (VETAC), to quality assure the development and issuing of national and nationally recognized vocational qualifications and awards. ACTVET oversees a number of entities that provide accredited educational and vocational training programs. The entities consist of the Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institut(ADVETI) and the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT). In line with the best international standards, this institutes prepare students for the local labour market.
