Cometa Formazione scs
(Cometa)

UNEVOC Centre (Training provider) since 2018

Cometa Formazione is a Centre of Inclusive Excellence, a Laboratory of Innovation and Empathic Pedagogy. Its TVET provision (ISCED 3-5 levels) is characterized by an innovative learning approach for more than 600 young people (14-22 y.o.), including dropouts, NEETs and migrants.

Aiming at youth employability and entrepreneurship, Cometa Formazione developed the “School-Enterprise” approach, involving students in producing real products for the market in workshops open to the public (reality-based learning). The school-job integration boosts both the quality of numeracy and literacy kids learn, and the professional skills they need to acquire. Learning enterprises, in hospitality, wood and textile sectors, have been set up to facilitate a concrete training and to boost students’ professional and soft skills.

Social & Emotional Learning activities complete the training, thanks to personalized projects for the human development of the students.

Practice-based research and action-research are promoted for the quality-enhancement of the educational service and for the professional development and well-being of staff: the same teachers and educators are researchers of our internal Department Cometa Research, in collaboration with a network of Universities and research centres worldwide.

Mission

Cometa is a School-Enterprise to educate through reality and beauty. Its pedagogical approach of Inclusive Excellence provides learners with high quality professional skills, but carefully fostering their social and emotional skills: to this extent, the educational and training provision is based on individualized learning paths designed according to the cognitive patterns of each learner. Similarly, lesson planning is characterized by intentionality as it stems from observation of the students, delivering a specific education: contextualized, as it is referred to each specific student; systematic, as it proceeds day after day with consistent small steps; and flexible, as it is adaptive to changes.

Objectives

  • To innovate TVET according to a new approach of “reality-based learning process”
  • To provide the students with crucial skills of (self-)entrepreneurship and personal resilience
  • To educate students to sustainability, promoting active citizenship, inclusive and positive attitude towards any difference (race, religion, gender), basics of circular economy, attention to environment
  • To support a strong personalization of training in order to minimize dropouts
  • To promote inclusive excellence, encouraging, by personalized training projects, the personal development of all the students notwithstanding any personal disability

Regular tasks

  • TVET programs and coaching for 14-19 y.o. kids in 3 different tracks: catering, carpentry and fashion.
  • Associate degree on hospitality management
  • Program for Early School Leavers and NEETs: 1- or 2-years programs based on a dual system approach
  • Training for migrants: 1 year program for literacy, numeracy and work-based training
  • Innovative high school program (Liceo Artigianale) based on a STEM approach
  • Practice-led research on innovation in education and training
