Maldives Polytechnic was created by a Presidential Decree under Article 116 of the constitution of the Maldives on April 12, 2010 as the national government institution to develop, manage and provide training facilities for technical and vocational education and training. The institution has evolved over the years since it was founded as a Vocational Training Centre in 1975.

Maldives Polytechnic operates within the Maldives Qualification Framework aligned with the principles and practices of partnership with the industry and community to provide demand driven skills development for economic growth and the needs of the people for employment.

Maldives Polytechnic’s vision is to become the leading national center for excellence in vocational and technical education. Its mission is to create opportunities for school leavers and adult learners to acquire skills, knowledge and values for employability and lifelong learning in a global economy.
