The Ministry of Education, an organization of the government, is responsible for the following areas: national education policy; early childhood education; education in general, including elementary school, high school, higher education, youth and adult education, vocational and technological education, special education, and distance learning, except military education; educational evaluation, data and research; university research and extension; teaching; and financial assistance to poor families for the schooling of their children or dependents.

The Secretariat of Vocational and Technological Education (Setec) is the area responsible for developing, planning, coordinating, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating public policies of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), which are developed in collaboration with the education systems and social partners. Vocational and Technological Education covers qualification, technical and technological qualification, and post-graduation courses, organized in such a way as to enable the continuous and articulated use of studies.

It is worth noting that Vocational and Technological Education is one of the Brazilian government's priorities, as it is strategic in preparing young people for professions and the world of work. Currently, more than 3.8 million students are enrolled in this modality all over the country.

Mission: To ensure the full implementation of the right to education, in coordination and cooperation with the federative entities, for the benefit of society.

Vision: To be a protagonist in the development of individuals capable of acting in a world of constant transformation, raising the levels of learning and innovation.
