National Education and Work programme – Educational Centers of Capacitation and Production
Programa Nacional de Educación y Trabajo – Centros Educativos de Capacitación y Producción (PNET-CECAP) - Política de Educación no Formal, Ministerio (PNET-CECAP)

UNEVOC Centre (Training provider) since 2002

Our educational centres work with young adults aged 15-20 who have finished primary education and have since fallen out of formal education. They are a vulnerable group from all social backgrounds.

The programs' aim is both educational inclusion and social integration, to this end it incorporates a number of areas: core skills, arts (currently music, handcrafts and dance), physical education and IT. This is achieved using group sessions, work based training and vocational workshops (currently woodworking, construction, hairdressing, clothes making, cookery, leather crafts and environmental studies)

Mission

The PNET-CECAP is a national program that fosters the relationship between education and work. It is a flexible, comprehensive educational project aimed at socially disadvantaged young adults aged 15-20 who have fallen out of the formal education system and are not in work.

Its goal is for the young adults to gain new knowledge and skills, change their attitudes towards life and their peers by introducing a broader concept of study than they have experienced in high schools and colleges. The concept of work is modified into something more than pure employment to become a way of life where personal and social goals are earn.

PNET-CECAP is a network of local centers and part of the National Public Education System of Uruguay, this result in a continuous every-day effort not necessarily influenced by national activities.

Objectives

- Contribute to providing comprehensive education for adolescents and young people

- Promoting social inclusion and public participation with a responsible attitude

- To promote educational continuity and the integration of young people into the formal education system.

- Give young adults the skills required to join the working world with an improved outlook

Regular tasks

Education through practical workshops, coaching in work strategies and tools, educational based work placements.

The educational approach has a set of areas:

- Educational Reference: individual and group work

- Labor (introduction to the working world through workshops, guidance and supervised internships in public institutions or private companies)
