Two UNEVOC Centres strengthen collaboration


On 26 September 2007, Griffith University, Australia, and Zhenjiang Technology Institute of Economy (ZJTIE), Hangzhou Zhejiang Province, China, both active UNEVOC Centers, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a long-term cooperation between the two organisations. This cooperation will focus on international activities within the framework of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD).

Rupert Maclean, Director of the UNESCO- UNEVOC International Centre, Dr Margarita Pavlova, Griffith University, Professor Lineng Chen the President of ZJTIE and Professor Chun Lin Huang, the Dean of the International Centre, ZJTIE took part in the signing ceremony.

The first major activity under this Memorandum of Understanding will be a research project funded by UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre, ZJTIE and Griffith University entitled “Developing innovative approaches in education for sustainable development: Curriculum reform in TVET China”. This project has been jointly developed by a Griffith University research team led by Dr Pavlova and a research team from Zhenjiang Technology Institute of Economy.

Observers from Mongolia and North Korea will be invited to take part in the project activities.
