on Technical and Vocational Education
More than 50 TVET experts from international organisations, UNESCO entities and UNESCO Member States from around the world, as well as independent experts, convened in Bonn, Germany, on 12-13 January 2009 for the “International Expert Consultation Meeting on Technical and Vocational Education”.
The aim of this meeting was to provide input into the development of a UNESCO TVET strategy, a process that was started in 2008. The participants discussed issues such as the importance of TVET within UNESCO’s mandate; UNESCO’s strengths and assets in the area of TVET; as well as the contribution the Organization can make to strengthening the institutional and policy environment for TVET provision in Member States. Issues of particular relevance to specific UNESCO Member States were also showcased.
