Jordanian delegation visits UNESCO-UNEVOC

UNESCO-UNEVOC welcomed a delegation from Jordan to its premises on 10 November 2014. The delegation included representatives of two UNEVOC Centres in Jordan: the Vocational Training Corporation and Al-Balqaa University. Representatives of the Jordanian Ministry of Water and Irrigation, the King Abdallah Fund for Development and the Jordanian Construction Contractors Association were also among the delegates.

The delegation came to Bonn with the aim of learning more about UNESCO-UNEVOC, in particular the UNEVOC Network, and how TVET-related networks and partnerships are designed, implemented and monitored in order to promote and foster collaboration in developing and improving vocational education and training.

In his welcome remarks, Shyamal Majumdar, Head of UNESCO-UNEVOC, focused on the strength of the UNEVOC Network coming from the interaction and engagement of its member institutions. This was followed by a presentation of examples of sharing experience and knowledge among UNEVOC Network member institutions and by a discussion on the UNESCO-UNEVOC online services. The discussion also addressed some success factors and challenges of networking and partnerships in TVET.

The delegates from Jordan used the opportunity to raise questions about the benefits and responsibilities of being a member of the UNEVOC Network and participating in UNESCO-UNEVOC’s online services. In particular, the delegates were inspired by the e-Forum and expressed their interest in establishing a similar platform in Arabic with focus on national needs in Jordan in collaboration with different stakeholders including UNEVOC Centres in Jordan, the GIZ Jordan Office, and UNESCO-UNEVOC.
