New UNEVOC Network Member: NCTTE, Sudan

The National Council for Technical and Technological education (NCTTE), Sudan, joined the UNEVOC Network in January 2012. This brings the total number of UNEVOC Centres to 286 Centres in 166 countries. Registered under the Ministry of Human Resource Development in Sudan, NCTTE is the central body for TVET in Sudan and is committed to upgrade technical and technological education in the country.

The Council’s objectives include:

  • Developing and designing programs and curricula that encompass the latest fast moving pace of scientific and technological progress;
  • Adopting and fulfilling the aspirations of students and high achievers from the secondary technical schools to proceed to the higher level technical educational qualifications;
  • Promoting a flexible relationship between the assessment of technical manpower needed for economic and social development; and
  • Monitoring, reviewing and evaluating the outputs and outcomes of technical and vocational education in Sudan.
Mr. Abdel Mahmoud Osman Mansour, Secretary General of the NCTTE, and Mr. Elfatih Waheed Elsharief, Administrative Secretary, both participated in the sub-regional consultation meeting in Nairobi, Kenya, which took place from 13-16 November 2011.
