Principal Research Associate
Tapio Varis is professor of vocational education, with particular reference to global learning environments at the University of Tampere, Finland, Research Centre for Vocational Education, and UNESCO Chair in global e-Learning with applications to multiple domains. He is
He contributed to the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Conference on “Vocational Content in Mass Higher Education”, which took place in September 2005 in Bonn. He also organized a UNESCO-UNEVOC workshop on ICT and sustainable development in vocational education in the Baltic region in January 2006, as well as a seminar on multicultural communication in May 2006.
Tapio is the coordinator of a UNESCO-UNEVOC supported application for the INTERREG programme on ICT and sustainable development and author of related documents. He will support a UNESCO-UNEVOC TVET Summit at the forthcoming eLearning Africa conference in May 2007.
