Chères lectrices, chers lecteurs,

De plus en plus, on attend de l’enseignement et de la formation techniques et professionnels qu’ils contribuent à accélérer l’apprentissage sur le changement climatique et l’acquisition de compétences vertes. Face à ces attentes, les systèmes d’EFTP vont devoir exploiter le potentiel qui émane de la reconfiguration des systèmes éducatifs et des marchés du travail du monde entier, de même que de la présence croissante des technologies numériques dans la quasi-totalité des aspects de la vie quotidienne.

Dans ce numéro de la Revue trimestrielle de l’UNEVOC, nous donnons un coup de projecteur sur des activités récemment menées pour sensibiliser à la mise en œuvre de la nouvelle stratégie de l’UNESCO et pour venir à l’appui de la communauté de l’EFTP dans sa préparation à des transitions justes et vertes.

Le thème des transitions reste un point central de nos programmes de renforcement des capacités, et en particulier de nos activités sur le développement de compétences vertes, le renforcement des capacités numériques du personnel de l’EFTP et la promotion de l’aptitude des dirigeants et responsables à s’adapter au changement.

Alors que les efforts pour faire évoluer les mentalités et promouvoir des avenirs durables battent leur plein, l’EFTP est bien positionné comme une voie flexible permettant de se former, de se reconvertir et de se perfectionner. En même temps, les systèmes d’EFTP vont jouer un rôle essentiel dans l’identification et l’anticipation des compétences requises pour réussir la transition vers des économies numériques et vertes.

Nous avons hâte de travailler de concert dans les années à venir pour renforcer l’EFTP, et nous vous souhaitons une bonne et heureuse année 2023!

During this period, the international agencies promoted a series of regional and global events, in partnership with associations operating around career development for both young people and adults.

The UNESCO-UNEVOC TVET Leadership Programme aims to build the capacities of TVET leaders and professionals from around the world. This year's edition was launched on 30 November with a focus on ‘Re-thinking TVET systems and programmes to anticipate demand, adapt and take action for a just and green transition’.

From 7 to 9 November 2022, the BILT bridging event in Nairobi brought together TVET stakeholders to discuss trends in green and digital qualifications and competencies in Africa, with a focus on the hospitality and tourism sector.

COP27 side event: Greening TVET, Adult Learning and Education
The UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre for TVET, the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning and the UNESCO Cairo Office organized a hybrid side event, ‘Greening TVET, Adult Learning and Education’, at the 27th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27). The event shed light on the importance of TVET and adult learning and education (ALE) for climate action.

Spotlight on resilient responses in TVET
Resilience and the ability to cope with disruption can come in many shapes and forms. Learning about how TVET managers, institutions, teachers and learners in different countries and contexts are adapting and transforming what they do in the face of sudden change is one of the aims of UNESCO-UNEVOC’s Building TVET Resilience for a Just and Sustainable Transition project.

Upskilling students and the workforce with circular economy principles
On 21 and 22 September, UNESCO-UNEVOC, in collaboration with Circle Economy, conducted a Training of Trainers (ToT) programme on ‘Circular Economy in Entrepreneurial Learning in TVET’. Eighty-four teachers from eight TVET institutions in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda participated in the training aimed at discovering actionable areas that can be implemented and led by TVET teachers and instructors.

Hybrid international conference and launch of the UNESCO strategy for TVET 2022-2029
On 25 and 26 October, UNESCO hosted a hybrid international conference and the launch of its new strategy for TVET for the period 2022-2029. The event took place at the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre for TVET in Bonn, Germany. More than 150 participants joined the event in person and over 1200 participants from 47 countries registered online to follow the sessions.

UNESCO-UNEVOC invited photographers from around the world to capture unique moments highlighting skills in action. We received more than 250 submissions showing how TVET equips young people with skills for sustainable societies and economies.

Follow-up webinar to the 11th Durban Forum on capacity-building
As countries are faced with an economic crisis in the aftermath of the pandemic, the time window for effective action towards achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda is shrinking. In this webinar, speakers from PCCB, UNFCCC and UNESCO-UNEVOC, among others, examined the linkages between accelerated and sustained climate action and skills development, as well as good practices in greening skills for climate action.

UNEVOC Network consultation for the 2023 GEM Report on technology and education
As part of the data gathering process for the upcoming report, UNESCO-UNEVOC and the GEM Report co-organized a consultation for UNEVOC Network members in October 2022. The 90-minute session centred on issues related to the role of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in the promotion of technological development and digitalization.

Temasek Polytechnic concludes its World Youth Skills Day (Asia Pacific) 2022 initiative
Themed “YOUth Matters: Celebrating Skills for the Future”, the inaugural WYSD (APAC) initiative ran from 7 July to 31 October 2022. The initiative was organized by Temasek Polytechnic, together with other UNEVOC Centres, local and regional partners, to amplify the voices of youth and better understand their perspectives when it comes to skills needed for the future. Global Skills Academy: New partnership to deliver skills training in Peru
A new initiative by UNESCO’s Global Skills Academy (GSA) will provide more than 100,000 young people across Peru with access to training in key employability skills thanks to a collaboration between Fundación Telefónica, a partner of the GSA, and SENATI, a UNEVOC Centre.

The fifth International Day of Education will be celebrated on 24 January 2023 under the theme “to invest in people, prioritize education”. Building on the global momentum generated by the UN Transforming Education Summit in September 2022, this Day will call for maintaining strong political mobilization around education and chart the way to translate commitments and global initiatives into action.
