Strengthening regional harmonization for the transformation of TVET

To strengthen global and regional harmonization for the advancement of TVET transformation through the capacities of UNEVOC's unique global Network of specialized TVET institutions and affiliated partners, the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre is organizing a series of meetings to be held in all regions of the world. The meetings are organized following the recommendations outlined in the Shanghai Consensus, in which the role of the UNEVOC Network is highlighted as playing a key role in developing the capacities of decision-makers and practitioners, and facilitate the involvement of all stakeholders in TVET transformation and development across the globe.

Kicking off in San José, Costa Rica, the regional meetings will facilitate high-level panels of experts discussing contemporary issues and highlighting skills development strategies, approaches and innovative practices focusing on greening TVET and youth employment. These themes were identified in close consultation with the Cluster Coordinators of the Network in earlier meetings this year.

* Latin America and Caribbean: 27-29 August 2013 in San José, Costa Rica

* Asia and the Pacific: 4-6 September 2013 in Seoul, Republic of Korea

* Africa: 17-18 September 2013 in Abuja, Nigeria

* Europe and North America: 28-29 October in Moscow, Russian Federation

* Arab States: 19-21 November 2013 in Beirut, Lebanon

The five events are hosted by UNEVOC Network Member institutions and will provide a unique platform for UNEVOC Network Members, NGOs, regional/international organizations and the private sector to showcase innovative practices and share experiences by mapping common challenges and opportunities.

The discussion outcomes, recommendations and evidence gathered from selected promising practices will be used as regional input to the UNESCO-UNEVOC plan of action for 2014-2015.
