The part of a competency standard which provides a guide to the interpretation and assessment of the unit of competency, including the aspects which need to be emphasized in assessment, relationships to other units, and the required evidence of competency.

It provides information on critical aspects of competency, underpinning knowledge, underpinning skills, resource implications, assessment method and context of assessment.
