Access to education and training

Conditions, circumstances or requirements (such as qualifications, education level, competences or work experience) governing admittance to, and participation of an individual in, learning.

Comment

Access to education and training can be hampered by many factors, mainly:

  • lack of funding for education and training;
  • lack of infrastructure (classrooms, etc.);
  • lack of learning materials;
  • lack of information and lifelong guidance;
  • exclusion of learners with disabilities;
  • sex / gender;
  • country in conflict or at risk of conflict;
  • distance from home to school or training centre;
  • hunger, poor nutrition and poor health;
  • cost of education and training.
