The capacity of a person to secure a job, to keep it, to cope with changing technology and labour market conditions and to build a career.
Portable competencies and qualifications that enhance an individual’s capacity to make use of the education and training opportunities available in order to secure and retain decent work, to progress within the enterprise and between jobs, and to cope with changing technology and labour market conditions.
Employability refers to the set of skills, abilities and characteristics held by an individual which make that person able to gain and maintain employment. Employability has gained greater prominence as a term, as national governments have moved away from policies designed towards employment in favour of promoting the employability of citizens; a shift from demand side to supply side policy.
The combination of factors which enable individuals to progress towards or get into employment, to stay in employment and to progress during career.
1. The degree of adaptability an individual demonstrates in finding and keeping a job, and updating occupational skills.
2. Relates to portable competencies and qualifications that enhance an individual’s capacity to make use of the education and training opportunities available in order to secure and retain decent work.
