Pacific Qualifications Framework (PQF)

Pacific Register of Qualifications and Standards (PQRS) / Pacific Qualifications Framework (PQF)

The Pacific Register of Qualifications and Standards (PRQS) has three domains:

  • Accredited qualifications;
  • Professional licensing and occupational standards;
  • Traditional knowledge and indigenous skills.
The main purpose of the PRQS is to facilitate the benchmarking of Pacific qualifications against international standards. This purpose is achieved through the use of the Pacific Qualifications Framework (PQF) as a translation device. Qualifications from Pacific Island countries and territories (Australia, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, New Zealand, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu) will be referenced against the PQF and a level for registration on the PRQS will be confirmed. The PQF will also be the instrument that will establish comparability of Pacific qualifications with other international education and training systems.
