The representatives of the regional and municipal government authorities and the heads of social institutions all came to take part in the event.
The University of Management "TISBI" rector, the Head of the Interuniversity Centre for Training People with Disabilities, the Chairman of the Inclusive Education Committee, Nella Pruss, did a presentation on the topic "The key areas of activities for the Interuniversity Centre for Training People with Disabilities".
18 higher educational establishments of Tatarstan, the representatives from the Ministry of Science and Education and the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Protection of Tatarstan and the Public Organization of Disabled People attended the first Interuniversity Centre meeting on 19 November 2013.
At the meeting Nella Pruss talked about the common problems that the universities have to deal with. First of all, it is the lack of accessible dormitories and transportation for the people with disabilities. "It is our duty to create better learning conditions for the students with disabilities who will feel more comfortable in an inclusive environment"– pointed out the rector.
Rector Nella Pruss stressed the importance of close collaboration with the government, non-profit organizations of the people with disabilities and the higher educational establishments of the Republic of Tatarstan. "Together we can make a difference and create an environment where all the people have the right to live and be a part of society regardless of their level of ability. Everyone is unique and everyone is equal".
The propositions that the Rector put forward were included in the Board of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Protection’s directive.
