UNEVOC Centres in Madagascar implement project enhancing ICT competencies for TVET teachers

In March 2015 UNESCO-UNEVOC made an open call to UNEVOC Centres to submit proposals for innovative capacity development measures addressing relevant aspects and challenges in technical and vocational education and training (TVET). Madagascar’s two UNEVOC Centres, the Higher Institute of Technology of Antsiranana and the National Institute for Professional Training in TVET, were the first to implement their project on enhancing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) competencies of TVET teachers.

The pilot project aims to engage 26 teachers from several national training institutes to develop training manuals for selected ICT trades and setup an online platform to enable online learning. The consolidation workshop, held from 2 to 4 December, was attended by a representative of UNESCO-UNEVOC, and teachers who completed the workshop were awarded a certificate for their successful participation.

In the framework of promoting greater sharing of experiences and promising practises, the workshop was also attended online by the Technical School of Nkolbisson, a UNEVOC Centre in Cameroon. The outcomes and recommendations of the project have great potential for upscaling and replication in the region. In its capacity as a clearinghouse, UNESCO-UNEVOC will make the project content available to its Network members.
