UNEVOC Experts Consultation Dublin

An UNEVOC International Experts Consultation was held from 18 – 20 August 2008 at the Dublin Institute of Technology in Dublin, Ireland.

-The Dublin Institute of Technology is the national UNEVOC Centre for Ireland.

The consultation was jointly organised by:

UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre Dublin Institute of Technology InWent Capacity Building International
Around 25 experts from UNEVOC Centres in Africa, Asia, Europe and USA participated in this consultation, which focused on capacity building for TVET practitioners and leaders of UNEVOC Centres through enhanced cooperation between UNEVOC Centres in developed and developing countries, as well as between UNEVOC Centres in the various world regions.

Issues for joint action and leaders for potential thematic clusters within the Network were identified, the importance of the development of standards for TVET teachers / trainers by UNEVOC Centres was stressed, and the need to develop a UNEVOC Network Extranet was articulated.

The roles and responsibilities of UNEVOC Centres were also defined, and include the following:

Long-established and well-funded UNEVOC Centres:

  • will offer systems and methods to newer Centres;
  • Centres in developed countries that are not already working with Centres in developing countries will make known what they are willing to offer;
  • will make available lists of experts willing to travel to other Centres for particular purposes.
Recently established and poorly resourced UNEVOC Centres:

  • will make their needs known through the UNEVOC e-Forum;
  • will seek assistance from other Network members through the e-forum.
