The Global Institute for Transferring Skills (GIFTS) of HRD Korea
, a member of the UNEVOC Network, organized an ASEAN+3 HRD Forum in Seoul, Republic of Korea, from 12 to 14 November.
The objective of the forum was to provide a platform for experts from ministries to share knowledge about the development of national competency standards (NCS) and qualifications frameworks (NQF) in ASEAN +3 countries and to come up with practical recommendations for further work in this area.
Representatives of Malaysia, Cambodia, the Republic of Korea, Laos, and Japan made presentations on their NCS or NQF development. In addition, Ms Carmela Torres, Senior Specialist at ILO Bangkok and senior officials of GIFTS and HRD Korea presented their current work in this field.
UNESCO-UNEVOC was represented by Programme Specialist Katerina Ananiadou. In her presentation she referred to UNESCO’s current work on developing a set of world reference levels and provided an overview of UNESCO-UNEVOC’s work, including the recent Global Forum and UNESCO's role in current TVET developments in the post-2015 context.
