Monitoring and Evaluation of Adult Learning

Report on the workship held at the CONFINTEA V Mid-term Review Conference, Bangkok, Thailand, September 2003

Provided that creativity is not stifled in the process, monitoring and evaluation are valuable tools for the community of adult educators and researchers, playing an essential role in improving the conditions and quality of adult learning. In 1997, the CONFINTEA V conference came to the conclusion that the quality and transparency of information on adult learning needed to improve so that it could be more useful to educators seeking to meet learners' needs. This booklet looks at the results of a workshop at the CONFINTEA V review conference, where progress in this area was discussed by participants from some 20 countries. It describes data collection methodologies and practices and identifies indicators to assess adult learning participation, achievements and outcomes.
