Representatives from twelve Arab countries participated in the Bahrain workshop on TVET for sustainable development. The meeting, which was jointly organised by UNESCO-Beirut and UNESCO-UNEVOC, was held at the Sheikh Kalifa Bin Salman Institute of Technology in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain. Three substantial resource papers on TVET for sustainable development were presented, namely on
the social dimensions (Prof. Jaber Ali, Iraq)
the economic dimensions (Dr Lamloumi, Tunisia) and
the environmental dimensions (Assoc. Prof. Ambousaidi, Oman).
Participants agreed that discussion on approaches to TVET for sustainable development was relevant and interesting. Their strongest interest lay in sharing practical teaching and learning resources on sustainable development, suitable for use in TVET programmes. The creation of an Arabic language resource base for TVET for sustainable development was called for as an outcome of the seminar.
