Monday, 15 June 2020 from 14:00 to 15:45 (GMT+3)

As part of the YEM Project, UNESCO is working with government agencies, private sector partners and civil society to strengthen national dialogue on future skills needs, and identify employment growth drivers. In this regard, and based on prior activities under the YEM project in Jordan, the tourism sector has been selected to be studied in terms of skills needed for its various jobs as the tourism sector has been the worst affected of all major economic sectors by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Focus and Objectives

The webinar is building on different national strategies and policies that have been developed as a roadmap to economic development and promotion of employment and quality of TVET in Jordan:

  • Jordan Human Resource Development Strategy 2016-2025
  • National Employment Strategy (NES) 2011-2020
  • National E-TVET Strategy 2014-2020
Building on various past YEM initiatives and activities and UNESCO work in Jordan in supporting the Government in reforming TVET system (in particular the main findings of the developed tracer study in tourism sector at MoE). The webinar is facilitating mainly the policy dialogues with the Ministry of Education – Vocational Education Department, Ministry of Higher Education, as well as with the Ministry of labour, in particular with the Vocational training Corporation (VTC) and the newly established TVET and Skills Development Commission and private sector.
