BMBO (Bureau for TVET upper secondary level)/BLBO(Bureau for TVET lower secondary level) are the responsible Bureaus for TVET in SURINAME and are part of the Department for TVET of the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture (MINOWC). Major areas of activities are: advising the Ministry on policy matters regarding TVET, and managing the schools for TVET (lower and upper secondary level and tertiary level), including budget, personnel and facilities (including physical infrastructure). Also, evaluating teachers, curricula and teaching methods in order to breach gaps, to train and retrain when needed. BMBO/BLBO is also providing services to the community as a whole, acting as a medium between education and industry, the labour market and other national and international institutes.
BMBO/BLBO is the main source for information on TVET and the implementing unit for the Department for TVET.
The Department for TVET is headed by the Permanent Secretary for TVET and assisted by the Assistant Permanent Secretary for TVET.
The most important mission of the Department is: Education for all and promoting lifelong learning.
