Volunteers for the UNEVOC Learning Forum

Background

Our world today is in an unprecedented flux. Rapid developments in technology, changes in climate, demography and mobility of people are affecting the way we work, live and learn. These changes call for adapting to new lifestyles, business and work orientation. Pressures brought about by demographic changes and international migrations are enormous and have an impact on the economic, social, and cultural fabric of migrants’ countries of origin and destination. At the global level, the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda is driving change in the way development is pursued.

In this context, UNESCO-UNEVOC is hosting a TVET Learning Forum from 23 until 25 May 2018, which will serve as a venue to discuss the most important disruptions that are influencing the TVET agenda today.

For our Forum we are looking for volunteers, who enjoy working in a young and dynamic multi-cultural team, who are willing and open to learn and who are looking forward to gathering their first working experiences at a United Nations conference.

The volunteers shall assist in the overall organization of the UNESCO-UNEVOC Learning Forum by, inter alia:

  • Assisting in translation for participants: shadow participants and assist in translations during the conference (French, Arabic, Spanish, Russian);
  • Backstopping the organization of plenary and breakout sessions;
  • Supporting the rapporteurs of the sessions by taking notes, collecting information, materials, presentations etc.;
  • Providing overall conference support to all guests and participants;
  • Providing other logistical support during the conference;
  • Assisting in collecting media content (e.g.: taking pictures and videos);
  • Assisting in any other task as assigned by UNEVOC staff.
A formal volunteer agreement will be signed between the volunteer and UNESCO-UNEVOC. The volunteer will receive a certificate after the completion of tasks.

UNESCO-UNEVOC does not provide remuneration to the volunteers.

The volunteer has to be at least 20 years old and should have a strong interest in education, specifically TVET (technical and vocational education and training).
