Shift that an individual experiences during his/her career between employment and unemployment or inactivity (labour market status, e.g. parental or sabbatical leave, disability, skills obsolescence), but also between employment and education and training (e.g. upskilling or retraining/reskilling), between formality (stable employment with access to social security schemes) and informality (e.g. casual work, platform work), as well as between different occupations or sectors.
