Learning factories provide the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom and
practice skills needed in the workplace. The Learning Factory is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and the latest technological evolutions, allowing students to perform workplace tasks in a safe environment.
Learning Factories are complex learning environments for the manufacturing context that contain authentic replicas of real production systems and value chains, so that participants can learn based on experiences, in a hands-on fashion. They are are simplified for didactic reasons and reproduced inside a lab to train students.
A learning factory is a learning environment where processes and technologies are based on a real industrial site which allows a direct approach to product creation process (product development, manufacturing, quality-management, logistics). Learning factories are based on a didactical concept emphasizing experimental and problem-based learning. The continuous improvement philosophy is facilitated by own actions and interactive involvement of the participants.
