New Visions, New Pathways
The Sixth PRIDE Project Regional Workshop on “The Role of TVET in Pacific Secondary Schools: New Visions; New Pathways” took place in Koror, Palau, 15-22 November 2006. Two high ranking education experts from each of the 15 Pacific countries participated in this workshop, which aimed to provide capacity building for senior educators by engaging them in the process of reconceptualising vocational education in their country and in the region. Part of the process required reflecting on global development in vocational education and examining the implications for the Pacific. The notion of syncretising the best of the contemporary global with the best of the local was embedded at the heart of the workshop. Rupert Maclean, director of UNESCO UNEVOC, gave several key presentations. The workshop was funded by the PRIDE Project in collaboration with UNESCO-UNEVOC and PATVET.
