The qualification of skilled workers is a key issue for competitiveness of companies and economies all over the world, and the quality of teacher education is crucial in determining the skills of future workers. Current debates and activities to improve TVET teacher/trainer education aim to enhance the effectiveness of TVET teacher/trainer education in a global economy while respecting regional, economic, social and cultural differences. The issues are varied and include the use of ICTs in TVET teacher/trainer programmes and standards for master level courses for TVET teachers/trainers. Together with partners, UNESCO-UNEVOC works on several of these crucial issues.
